Utah Jazz Roster Report 2009-08-21
PLAYER NEWS:

--G Kyle Korver and G Ronnie Brewer played well at a USA Basketball mini-camp last month in Las Vegas. Korver had 12 points and hit a pair of three-pointers in an intrasquad scrimmage while Brewer finished with 11 points and six steals in the same game. Both still are considered longshots to be included on the 12-man roster the U.S. will take to Turkey for next year's world championships.

--C Kyrylo Fesenko had 13 points and seven rebounds Aug. 5 for the Ukrainian national team in a 91-67 loss to Hungary. Fesenko and Ukraine are playing in relegation round competition as part of the European championships. Ukraine could face being dropped into Europe's B division without a strong showing. Fesenko skipped summer league play with the Jazz to play for his country this summer.

--G Deron Williams will help promote the Tour of Utah bicycle race on Aug. 7. Williams will compete with Floyd Landis, the disgraced cyclist who was stripped of his 2006 Tour de France title for a blood-doping violation. Williams and Landis will compete in what was described as a three-point shootout, before jumping on their bikes for a time trial.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--G Kyle Korver (wrist surgery) is expected to be fully healed by the time he reports to USA Basketball minicamp at the end of July.

--F Carlos Boozer (knee surgery) is reported to be at 100 percent after undergoing surgery in January and is working out at home in Miami this summer.

--C Mehmet Okur (hamstring strain) is back to working out after resting the hamstring that he injured in the Jazz's second-to-last game of the regular season.

DRAFT PICKS:

Eric Maynor, G, 6-3, Virginia Commonwealth (first round) -- As always, the Jazz plan to carry three point guards on their roster, but will Maynor be able to find minutes playing behind Deron Williams and possibly Ronnie Price?

Goran Suton, C, 6-10, Michigan State (second round) -- The Jazz coaches were impressed by Suton's workout, but he will have to compete to make the team with young centers Kyrylo Fesenko and Kosta Koufos already on the roster.
