DRAFT PICKS:
Eric Maynor, G, 6-3, Virginia Commonwealth (first round) -- As always, the Jazz plan to carry three point guards on their roster, but will Maynor be able to find minutes playing behind Deron Williams and possibly Ronnie Price? Goran Suton, C, 6-10, Michigan State (second round) -- The Jazz coaches were impressed by Suton's workout, but he will have to compete to make the team with young centers Kyrylo Fesenko and Kosta Koufos already on the roster.
PLAYER NEWS:
--G Ronnie Price re-signed with the Jazz for two years and $2.6 million and will compete with first-round draft pick Eric Maynor to back up Deron Williams. Price likely will have the edge heading into training camp, given his two years of previous experience and Maynor's struggles in summer league.
--G Deron Williams raised a record $50,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation as part of his third-annual charity golf tournament. Williams and Kyle Korver, meanwhile, will host a charity dodgeball tournament Sept. 12 to raise money for The Christmas House shelter in Salt Lake City.
--G Morris Almond, the Jazz' 2007 first-round draft pick, played with New York as part of the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. The Jazz cut ties with Almond after declining his third-year option in October. As of now, Almond is one of only three Jazz players from last season not expected to return, along with G Brevin Knight and C Jarron Collins.
MEDICAL WATCH:
--G Kyle Korver (wrist surgery) is expected to be fully healed by the time he reports to USA Basketball minicamp at the end of July.
--F Carlos Boozer (knee surgery) is reported to be at 100 percent after undergoing surgery in January and is working out at home in Miami this summer.
--C Mehmet Okur (hamstring strain) is back to working out after resting the hamstring that he injured in the Jazz's second-to-last game of the regular season.
