ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Deron Williams, Shooting guard Wesley Matthews, Small forward Ronnie Brewer, Power forward Carlos Boozer, Center Mehmet Okur. Bench -- Forward Paul Millsap, Guard Ronnie Price, Forward Andrei Kirilenko, Center Kyrylo Fesenko PLAYER NOTES: --G Deron Williams finished with 21 points and hit 9 of 11 shots in his matchup against Derrick Rose, who had 19 points but went 9-for-17 from the field. It was the first time Williams and Rose had battled each other at full strength given Williams' ankle injury last season. During the pregame shootaround, Jazz coach Jerry Sloan called the two young point guards "the future of basketball."
--G Eric Maynor played opposite Deron Williams in the backcourt as the Jazz broke open the game in the first half. Jazz coach Jerry Sloan opted to pair Maynor and Williams together as the Bulls went with Derrick Rose and Jannero Pargo. Maynor finished with four points and three assists in 16 minutes.
--F Andrei Kirilenko tied Greg Ostertag for second on the franchise's blocked shots list, chasing down John Salmons on the fast break after committing a turnover at the other end. Kirilenko had five points and six rebounds but went 1-for-7 from the field. Ostertag and Kirilenko both have 1,255 blocks.
--C Mehmet Okur scored six points at the close of the first quarter and finished with 14 for the night in his second game back. Okur missed three games because of flu-like symptoms and struggled in his return Tuesday against the Thunder.
MEDICAL WATCH:
--G C.J. Miles (thumb surgery) said Tuesday he will resume practicing next week and hopes to return shortly thereafter. Miles has not played this season after suffering a ruptured ligament in his thumb during the preseason.
--G Kyle Korver will have to wait a little longer to make his return. Korver said Thursday that he will cease court work for a week and start working to build strength in his left hamstring and quadriceps following knee surgery. Korver said he thought his leg muscles weakened as a result of his inactivity during the preseason.
--C Kyrylo Fesenko missed Thursday's game with a stomach virus. Fesenko is not suffering from the H1N1 virus. He is the Jazz's third player in recent days to take ill, joining Mehmet Okur and Ronnie Price. Fesenko's availability for Saturday's game is uncertain.
--G Ronnie Price (sprained left big toe) has missed seven consecutive games with his injured toe, but the Jazz have ruled out surgery for him. Price will continue to rehab in the hopes of returning in a couple of weeks or so. He would have missed four to six weeks if he'd had surgery.
--F Matt Harpring (ankle, knee problems) remains on the Jazz's roster but is unlikely to play again. Harpring continues to deal with the effects of a devastating infection that followed ankle surgery in 2008 as well as the effects of multiple knee surgeries throughout his career. Harpring did not join the Jazz for training camp or the preseason, remaining at home with his family in Atlanta.
