Utah Jazz Roster Report 2009-11-14

Utah Jazz Roster Report 2009-11-14ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Eric Maynor, Shooting guard Wesley Matthews, Small forward Ronnie Brewer, Power forward Carlos Boozer, Center Mehmet Okur. Bench -- Forward Paul Millsap, Guard Ronnie Price, Forward Andrei Kirilenko, Center Kyrylo Fesenko.

PLAYER NOTES:

--G Eric Maynor's 13 points and 11 rebounds Friday against the Sixers made him the Jazz's first rookie to finish with a double-double in his first start since Andrei Kirilenko in December 2001.

--F Andrei Kirilenko came off the bench Friday with Jazz coach Jerry Sloan keeping an emergency ball-handler in reserve with point guards Deron Williams and Ronnie Price out. Kirilenko had 13 points and six rebounds in 29 minutes.

--G Ronnie Brewer can take much credit for the Jazz's second-quarter surge against the Sixers. Brewer handled the ball the entire quarter, which the Jazz won 34-18, on the way to their highest-scoring half (64 points) this season.

--G Wesley Matthews hit two first-quarter three-pointers and went on to score 16 points against the Sixers in his first NBA start. Matthews even outscored Sixers star Andre Iguodala by five points in the game.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--G C.J. Miles (thumb surgery) had the cast from his left hand removed Monday in New York but is at least two weeks away from resuming practice. Miles said doctors were optimistic that he'd be back playing by the time the Jazz return to the New York area for a Dec. 16 game at New Jersey. He suffered a ruptured ligament in his thumb during the preseason.

--G Kyle Korver (knee surgery) is expected to miss six weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery Oct. 28 in New York to remove a bone spur from his left knee. The Jazz have yet to set an official timetable with respect to Korver, who was cleared to increase his activity level Monday. Korver headed to Santa Barbara, Calif., for a week of work at a center with which the Jazz have a relationship.

--G Ronnie Price (sprained left big toe) had to leave Monday's game in the second quarter after feeling a pop on the underside of his foot after coming up with a steal. Price did not play Wednesday against the Celtics and is uncertain to play on the rest of the Jazz's four-game trip after reporting little improvement the last two days.

--F Matt Harpring (ankle, knee problems) remains on the Jazz's roster but is unlikely to play again. Harpring continues to deal with the effects of a devastating infection that followed ankle surgery in 2008 as well as the effects of multiple knee surgeries throughout his career. Harpring did not join the Jazz for training camp or the preseason, remaining at home with his family in Atlanta.
