Utah Jazz Roster Report 2008-11-20

Utah Jazz Roster Report 2008-11-20
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Ronnie Price, Shooting guard

Ronnie Brewer, Small forward C.J. Miles, Power forward Carlos Boozer,

Center Kosta Koufos. Bench -- Guard Brevin Knight, Guard Kyle Korver,

Forward Andrei Kirilenko, Forward Paul Millsap.

PLAYER NOTES:

--G C.J. Miles followed his 21-point game against Phoenix with 25

points against Milwaukee. It was the second-highest scoring game of

Miles career, after a 29-point game last season against Washington. In

the last two games, Miles has made 17 of 29 shots (58.6 percent).

--C Mehmet Okur started after missing five games to attend to his

critically ill father in Turkey and returning to Utah with a sore

lower back. Okur missed all three shots he took and finished with one

point and five rebounds in 20 minutes.

--G Morris Almond was in for a surprise in the first quarter. Jazz

coach Jerry Sloan made the seldom-used second-year guard his first

player off the bench. The Jazz declined to pick up an option in

Almond's contract to bring him back for the 2009-10 season, but Sloan

sang his praises before the game, saying: "He's been making it tough

to sit him down. He's played well in practice, he's worked hard, he's

worked in the weight room, he's done other things to try to make

himself better."

--G Kyle Korver played only 16 minutes and was replaced by C.J.

Miles with 8:29 left in the fourth quarter. Korver was part of Jerry

Sloan's fourth-quarter closing lineup last season (along with Deron

Williams, Andrei Kirilenko, Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur) but has had

greater competition for playing time this season from Ronnie Brewer

and now Miles.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--F Carlos Boozer suffered a strained left quadriceps and left

Wednesday's game in the fourth quarter. He will undergo an MRI exam

Thursday and be reevaluated.

--G Brevin Knight is bothered by a strained left groin he suffered

in Monday's game. Knight said he hasn't recovered as quickly as he had

expected and is struggling with his lateral quickness.

--G Deron Williams has missed 10 of 12 games this season with the

sprained left ankle he suffered in an Oct. 18 preseason game. Williams

has called it the worst injury of his career. Although he is believed

to be closer to returning, Williams wouldn't commit to playing Friday

against San Antonio.

--C Jarron Collins started Monday against Phoenix but did not

dress Wednesday as he continues to nurse a right elbow injury. Collins

has played in only two games this season.
