ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Ronnie Price, Shooting guard Ronnie Brewer, Small forward C.J. Miles, Power forward Carlos Boozer, Center Mehmet Okur. Bench -- Guard Brevin Knight, Guard Kyle Korver, Forward Andrei Kirilenko, Forward Paul Millsap.
PLAYER NOTES: --G Ronnie Brewer isn't just a first- and third-quarter player any longer. Even though Brewer was used almost exclusively that way after Kyle Korver's arrival last season, things have changed after only a handful of games this season. Brewer came back for the last two minutes of the second quarter Wednesday and played in the same lineup as Korver. He stayed in at the start of the fourth quarter for 2:25. Brewer also came back with five minutes remaining in the fourth and fouled out LaMarcus Aldridge as part of a three-point play. Brewer also has displayed confidence in his shot, hitting a three-pointer against Portland's zone defense in the third quarter.
--G Deron Williams acknowledged that the Jazz's undefeated start is making it easier for him to hold off returning from a sprained ankle. Williams missed his fourth game Wednesday and said he continues to be bothered by soreness and weakness in the ankle. He might not play until next week's road trip. "It's easy for me not to rush back when we're 3-0 as opposed to 1-2 or something like that," Williams said.
--G Ronnie Price remains the starter with Williams out, but Brevin Knight has established himself as the Jazz's fourth-quarter closer. Knight played 27 minutes and finished with four points, six assists, three turnovers and three steals against Portland. The three turnovers were almost shocking, considering he had three turnovers in 58 minutes in three games before Wednesday.
--F Paul Millsap couldn't follow his 24-point effort against the Clippers with another against Portland. But Millsap was able to go 4-for-4 from the foul line. He's 15 of 17 so far this season, a remarkable improvement for the 67.5 percent shooter his first two seasons with the Jazz.
MEDICAL WATCH:
--F Matt Harpring (ankle infection) missed the entire preseason and was sidelined for the opener. Harpring resumed practicing over the weekend but still does not know when he will be able to play again. Harpring suffered the infection after undergoing surgery to remove bone spurs over the summer. He had to be hospitalized for four days and was treated with intravenous antibiotics for a month.
--C Jarron Collins arrived during Wednesday's game after returning from Los Angeles, where Collins sought a third opinion on his injured right elbow. Collins did not dress for the game against Portland and has been battling the injury -- a combination bone bruise and triceps tendinitis -- since the summer.
