ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Ronnie Price, Shooting guard Ronnie Brewer, Small forward C.J. Miles, Power forward Carlos Boozer, Center Mehmet Okur. Bench -- -- Guard Brevin Knight, Guard Kyle Korver, Forward Andrei Kirilenko, Forward Paul Millsap.
PLAYER NOTES: --F Andrei Kirilenko adjusted well to life as a sixth man, finishing with 16 points, six rebounds and three assists. Most notable, Kirilenko played 35 minutes, third most after Mehmet Okur and Carlos Boozer.
--F C.J. Miles was an opening night starter for the second time in his four-year career. Miles previously started in his second season but was back on the bench after only 12 games. He played 13 minutes Wednesday and started both halves but did not re-enter after going to the bench.
--F Carlos Boozer was called for a couple of tough fouls late, but held his own in blocking Nene in the last two minutes and fouling him out. "I was just hoping he'd cock it back a little bit," Boozer said, "so I can get a piece of it. I'm not one of those high risers like (Kenyon Martin) so I had to do what I had to do."
--C Kyrylo Fesenko wound up the odd man out on the inactive list. The Jazz had two spots on the active roster available with Deron Williams and Matt Harpring both injured. They opted to activate Morris Almond and rookie Kosta Koufos.
MEDICAL WATCH:
--G Deron Williams (sprained left ankle) tried to return for Wednesday's opener against Denver but wasn't able to do so. Williams went through practice Tuesday but aggravated the ankle on a spin move. Williams said he likely return for next Wednesday's game against Portland. That would rule him out for games against the Clippers on Saturday and Monday.
--F Matt Harpring (ankle infection) missed the entire preseason and was sidelined for the opener. Harpring resumed practicing over the weekend but still does not know when he will be able to play again. Harpring suffered the infection after undergoing surgery to remove bone spurs over the summer. He had to be hospitalized for four days and was treated with intravenous antibiotics for a month.
