Utah Jazz Notes, Quotes 2008-06-30
--Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer will join Karl Malone and John Stockton as Jazz teammates turned Olympic teammates. Malone and Stockton played on the original 1992 Dream Team as well as again in 1996.

--Kosta Koufos entertained multimillion-dollar offers to play professionally for Greek club Olympiacos both before and during his lone season at Ohio State. He turned them down, though, and Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor said there was no concern that Koufos would sign overseas instead of playing in the NBA. Koufos was born and raised in Canton, Ohio, but has dual citizenship and was Greece's best player at the 2007 under-18 European championships.

"He's an American, he wants to play in America, and play in the NBA," O'Connor said. "So I just wanted to get that off the table as far as that goes."

--Jazz owner Larry Miller was hospitalized June 10 while suffering from complications from diabetes. The family did not disclose the specific complications, but the most serious typically include heart disease, blindness, nerve damage and kidney damage.

Miller, 64, has owned the Jazz for 23 years and is one of Utah's most prominent businessmen. He also owns a network of car dealerships, a motorsports park, a chain of theaters and a Salt Lake City television channel. Miller is expected to take the lead in negotiations for Deron Williams' contract extension.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's just another steppingstone for me and Carlos. This is a big deal for us to be on this team, especially how young we are. We're definitely privileged and definitely proud to be on this team. As far as the comparisons, it brings us closer, but we're still far away." -- Jazz guard Deron Williams on being selected, along with teammate Carlos Boozer, to the U.S. Olympic team.
