--With so many fans eager for the Jazz to select North Carolina forward Tyler Hansbrough, Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor felt the need to address the crowd at the EnergySolutions Arena draft party after Indiana picked Hansbrough at No. 13. O'Connor reminded the crowd that they had been upset as well after losing out on JJ Redick and selecting Ronnie Brewer in 2006.

--Eric Maynor became the first Virginia Commonwealth product ever selected in the first round as well as the first player drafted out of the Colonial Athletic Association in a decade. Only three VCU products ever have played in the NBA -- Jesse Dark, Bernie Harris and Gerald Henderson. Henderson, whose son went to Charlotte at No. 12, was a third-round pick who enjoyed a 13-year NBA career with seven teams.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I don't think he's going to play against anybody better in the NBA than he does every day in practice." -- Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor on first-round pick Eric Maynor getting a point guard education from Deron Williams.
