Utah Jazz Notes, Quotes 2009-04-23
--Only 14 teams in NBA history have overcome a 2-0 deficit to win a playoff series, but the Jazz were one of those teams. They came back against Houston in the 2007 first round and went on to reach the Western Conference finals.

--The 41 points the Jazz gave up in the first quarter Tuesday were the second-most by an opponent in their playoff history. Denver scored 43 points in the first quarter in beating the Jazz in the conference semifinals in May 1985. The 85.7 percent the Lakers shot eclipsed the 82.4 percent Seattle shot in the third quarter of a May 1993 game.

--G Deron Williams finished with a playoff career-high 35 points and nine assists in Tuesday's game. That included six 3-pointers as Williams almost single-handedly kept the Jazz in the game. Utah closed within six points seven times in the third quarter but couldn't get over the hump.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Every time we got within five or six points of them, we cut our own throat by turnovers and tough shots." -- Jazz coach Jerry Sloan after Tuesday's Game 2 loss to the Lakers.
