Utah Jazz Notes, Quotes 2009-03-26
--F Matt Harpring has seen his role dramatically reduced over the past month, putting the 11-year veteran in a tough spot. Harpring did not get off the bench in the Jazz's recent games against Miami, Oklahoma City, Houston and Phoenix. He did not come back in the second half of games against Indiana, Washington and Atlanta and has not played more than 11 minutes in a month. "Just be professional about it and have a good attitude," Harpring said. "We're in it to win it, so as long as we're winning, just do what I can to help the team." Making the situation more difficult is the fact Harpring went to great lengths to return this season after a devastating infection following ankle surgery last summer. He has been a Jerry Sloan favorite during his eight seasons in Utah -- Harpring epitomizes the toughness and physical play Sloan so often talks about -- and his $6.5 million salary for 2009-10 is now fully guaranteed. "I work out as hard or harder now than I did and it's definitely still my job," Harpring said, "so I've got to be ready if or when I'm called."

--The Jazz are now 0-9 on the road against teams in the Western Conference playoff hunt -- with six games remaining to close out the regular season. They also are still searching for their second victory this season over a team that came into Wednesday with a winning record. Thanks to Detroit's recent slide, the Jazz's only victory that qualifies came in November at Philadelphia.
