The Jazz made it official Friday, matching Portland's four-year, $32 million offer sheet to keep restricted free agent forward Paul Millsap in Utah.
"Keeping Paul on our roster was one of our main goals this off-season," Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor said in a statement. "We look forward to watching him play a key role on this team for many years to come." The Trail Blazers' offer sheet included a $10.3 million upfront payment to Millsap, between a signing bonus and a portion of his first-year salary. The Jazz faced a Friday deadline to decide about matching but made their intentions known Thursday.
With the Jazz having matched the offer sheet, Millsap cannot be traded for a year without his consent and cannot be traded to Portland during that time regardless.
