Utah Jazz rookie Kosta Koufos has been assigned to the NBA Developmental League, the team announced Thursday.
Koufos will report to the D-League's Utah Flash in time their game Friday night against Anaheim at the McKay Events Center. Because an NBA team can't have more than two players on its D-League affiliate's roster at one time, the Jazz recalled center Kyrylo Fesenko from the Flash.
Fesenko will be eligible to play when the Jazz play host to Shaquille O'Neal and the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night at EnergySolutions Arena.
In 48 games with the Jazz, including seven starts, Koufos averaged 4.7 points and 2.9 rebounds. Since the return from injury by Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko last month, however, the first-round draft pick from Ohio State has rarely played.
Fesenko played in 18 games for the Jazz before being sent to the Flash on March 20. The second-year center averages 2.4 points and 1.8 rebounds.
