Jazz guard Kyle Korver underwent surgery Monday in New York to remove scar tissue from his right wrist. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks, with a timetable then set for his recovery.
Korver was bothered by his injured wrist all season and missed four games in November trying to rest it. He averaged 9.0 points and 3.3 rebounds while hitting 38.6 percent of his three-pointers in 78 games. The Jazz , meanwhile, are giving Jerry Sloan time to recover from his April 30 knee-replacement surgery before he makes his official commitment to return as coach next season.
Sloan typically has taken two weeks to decide at the start of every summer. He already is under contract to return for 2009-10, which would be his 22nd season as Jazz coach.
The Jazz had expressed interest in having 6-foot-8 forward Demetris Nichols play for their summer-league team, but Nichols' agent, Bill Neff, said Monday that he was planning to call back to decline the invitation.
Nichols has appeared in 18 games with Cleveland, Chicago and New York the past two seasons and finished last season with the NBA Development League's Iowa Energy, where he averaged 21.7 points and was a 45.5 percent three-point shooter.
Neff, who represents former Jazz guard Jason Hart, had nothing but praise for the organization, but said he was trying to find somewhere Nichols could stick after so much bouncing around the last two seasons.
The Jazz's roster has too much uncertainty right now, Neff said, with as many as nine players who could be free agents should Carlos Boozer, Mehmet Okur and Korver opt out of their contracts by the June 30 deadline.
