Matt Harpring will not participate in Jazz training camp and won't play for Utah this preseason. But he's not retiring as of yet. Instead of joining the Jazz this week for camp, Harpring will stay in his offseason home of Atlanta for the immediate future. The small forward, who's dealing with ankle and knee injuries, is "physically unable to participate at this point" and will have his health re-evaluated by the team's medical staff in six weeks, Jazz spokesperson Jonathan Rinehart said Wednesday afternoon. Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor is at a senior management retreat in Park City and is unavailable for an immediate response. Harpring's agent, Richard Howell, would not comment on the situation when reached earlier Wednesday. e-mail: jody@desnews.com Author: Fox Sports Author's Website: http://www.foxsports.com Added: September 25, 2009
