Until they can find a way to win in San Antonio, the streak will
always be the story for the Jazz. They have lost 21 consecutive road games to the Spurs -- 18 in the regular season, three in the 2007
Western Conference finals -- dating to February 1999.
The Jazz couldn't ask for better circumstances to snap the streak,
with Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili both out for the 5-6 Spurs. But the
Jazz are coming off a 1-4 trip last week that raised further questions
about their inability to win on the road.
"I'm looking for the question after we play the next game on the
road," Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said. "Are we going to be energized or
are we going to wait till we get back home to be energized?"
The Jazz are 6-0 at home and 2-4 on the road entering their
two-game trip to San Antonio and Memphis. But they could be forced to
play without their two biggest stars in Deron Williams and Carlos
Boozer.
Williams sat out again Wednesday with the left ankle he sprained a
month ago. Although his ankle is getting stronger, Williams would not
commit to playing against San Antonio. Boozer, meanwhile, left with
3:55 remaining with a strained left quadriceps.
Boozer will undergo an MRI on Thursday but walked stiffly out of
the locker room after the game. He suggested that the injury was not
serious, but it might still be a stretch for him to play back-to-back
games this weekend.
JAZZ 105, BUCKS 94: The Jazz built a 16-point lead in the second
quarter, gave it all back by halftime, trailed by 10 midway through
the third quarter and still found a way to beat Milwaukee for the
eighth consecutive time. The Jazz piled up the blocks, steals and
deflections in the final 17 minutes and outscored the Bucks 44-23.
They did so despite playing with only one true point guard in Ronnie
Price with Deron Williams and Brevin Knight both out injured. Former
Utah Ute Andrew Bogut had 16 points and 20 rebounds while Richard
Jefferson added 25 for Milwaukee.
