Carlos Boozer's remarkable play to start the season has drawn league-wide notice, with Boozer selected Monday as the Western Conference Player of the Week for the third time in his Jazz career. Boston's Kevin Garnett was the Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Boozer previously won the award Dec. 18, 2006, as well as Nov. 6, 2006. He was Western Conference Player of the Month in November 2007. "There's so many great players out there that play great every day, so it's a huge honor," said Boozer, who won Eastern Conference Player of Week once while with Cleveland. "Hopefully, I can build off that even more."
Boozer was selected as an All-Star in 2007 and 2008 after receiving similar accolades. He averaged 26.7 points and 13.7 rebounds last week while shooting 62.7 percent as the Jazz beat Memphis and Indiana and lost to Minnesota.
Boozer came into Monday having scored 21 points or more and shooting at least 54.5 percent in the Jazz's previous seven games. He and Toronto's Chris Bosh are the only players in the league averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds this season.
