Mavericks exploit Heat's misfires

Mavericks exploit Heat's misfires Times wires

MIAMI - Dirk Nowitzki scored 25 and had 17 rebounds, and the Mavericks added to the Heat's home woes with a 106-93 thrashing Friday night.

Dwyane Wade scored 28 and matched a career high with 11 rebounds for the Heat , 2-5 at home since Nov. 10. Former Gator Udonis Haslem made his first eight shots and finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds for otherwise cool-shooting Miami, which started 0-for-10 from the floor.

Game highlights: Aaron Brooks scored 19 and the Rockets handed the host 76ers their 12th straight loss, 96-91. The 76ers (5-18) are on their longest skid since also dropping 12 in a row from Nov. 25 to Dec. 20, 2006. Rookie Tyler Hansbrough scored a season-high 21 as the host Pacers beat the Nets 107-91 to end a six-game losing streak. LeBron James scored 33 as the host Cavaliers beat the Blazer 104-99.

Late Thursday: The Jazz couldn't beat the defending champion Lakers on Wednesday, but 24 hours later it knocked off last season's other NBA finalist and ended Orlando's six-game winning streak, 120-111.

Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said Friday that it was "no big deal" that Rashard Lewis refused to re-enter the game in the second quarter. He said Lewis' act was not in defiance but because he had two fouls and his replacement was playing well.

The Magic had no answer for Jazz point guard Deron Williams (32 points, 15 assists).

Vince Carter led Orlando with 34 points, and Dwight Howard had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Information from the Orlando Sentinel contributed to this report.
