Jazz return home, stop Mavericks
Home sweet home.

The Utah Jazz returned from their pre-Christmas trip Friday night and, despite not having Carlos Boozer, Memo Okur and Paul Millsap because of injuries, defeated the road-weary Dallas Mavericks, 97-88.

Ronnie Brewer scored 21 points, rookie Kosta Koufos added 18 and Deron Williams contributed 17 as the Jazz improved to 14-3 in theirholiday homecoming game under coach Jerry Sloan.

Jason Terry led the Mavs, who played for the fifth time in a six-game stretch on the road, with 26 points.

Dirk Nowitzki added 17 for Dallas before being ejected in the fourth quarter.

The Jazz owned a 78-68 lead early in the fourth quarter when Kyrylo Fesenko took a rebound away from Dirk Nowitzki and scored.

As the ball went through the basket, Nowitzki got tangled up with the Jazz's Matt Harpring and hit him with a backhanded slap to to theface.

Nowitzki was called for a flagrant foul and ejected. Harpring made a free throw to make it 81-68 and, with the Jazz retainingpossession. he nailed a jumper to give Utah an 83-68 lead with 9:38 remaining.

Dallas rallied and got as close as 85-80 with 6:29 to go, but the Jazz used a 7-2 burst to regain a 92-82 lead with 4:38 remaining.

Utah held off from there and snapped a two-game losing streak.
