Jazz bringing in draft prospects for workouts News Utah Jazz

The Jazz will hold their first in a series of prospect workouts leading up to the NBA Draft on Monday, general manager Kevin O'Connor said. Specific attendees have yet to be announced by the team. O'Connor already has scouted last weekend's Reebok Eurocamp in Italy and a group workout hosted earlier this month at Golden State, so the Jazz are getting a later-than-usual start on bringing individual prospects to Utah.

The Jazz , for now, own both the No. 20 overall first-round selection and the No. 50 overall second-round selection in the June 25 draft. "I'm not saying that we wouldn't trade (the first-round pick) ... if it helps," O'Connor said Wednesday. "(But) I don't think we're interested in 'selling' it, like other teams are. We've got a commitment to win." MOCK UPDATES: An on-line mock draft updated Wednesday by ESPN.com's Chad Ford has the Jazz picking University of Pittsburgh senior small forward/swingman Sam Young. Ford now has previous projected Jazz pick Tyler Hansbrough of the University of North Carolina going No. 11 to New Jersey. "The Jazz are hoping that Hansbrough slips to them (at No. 20)," Ford wrote. "But if he's off the board, they'll likely be deciding between James Johnson, Sam Young and Toney Douglas." Johnson is a power forward from Wake Forest, and Douglas is a defensive-minded combo guard from Florida State. PROSPECTS UPDATE: Israeli media have reported that highly regarded Jazz 2008 second-round draft choice Ante Tomic is close to signing a multi-year contract with Israeli League power Maccabi Tel Aviv, but earlier this week, a spokesman for the Croatian center's Adriatic League team KK Zagreb reportedly told a Web site there ? sportnet.hr ? that "the club has not yet received any concrete offer." There are no plans, in any event, for the 7-foot-2 Tomic to join the Jazz next season. Reports out of Europe are that the Jazz's other second-round pick last year, forward Tadija Dragicevic, has announced he plans to soon leave his Adriatic League team, Crvena zvezda ? even though he is under contract for another year. There are no plans, either, for Dragicevic to join the Jazz next season.MISC.: According to DraftExpress.com, former Salt Lake Community College and Utah State forward Gary Wilkinson is scheduled to audition today for Golden State, Friday with Sacramento and Monday with the Jazz . O'Connor could not confirm Monday's workout plans, however. Wilkinson is a pro prospect, but is not ranked among Ford's top 100 draft prospects ...
