Hundley to work Jazz game . . . for Lakers broadcast

Hundley to work Jazz game . . . for Lakers broadcast "The Voice of the Jazz " will be back in Utah to call Saturday's game but will be doing so as part of the Los Angeles Lakers broadcast team.

The Lakers announced Tuesday that Hot Rod Hundley will fill in for six games beginning Friday while regular TV commentator Stu Lantz is away while his wife recovers from surgery.

Lakers spokesman John Black said Hundley was at "the top our of list" of potential candidates to fill in for Lantz. "He's coming back to us four decades later and to you a year later," Black added.

Hundley, 75, played six seasons for the Lakers and worked alongside the legendary Chick Hearn at the start of his broadcasting career.

Hundley retired after last season after calling more than 3,000 Jazz games and was replaced on radio broadcasts by David Locke. He was the last remaining member of the original New Orleans Jazz still with the organization.

Jazz president Randy Rigby didn't return a message Tuesday about Hundley's return to Utah.
