Former Jazz coach and executive Frank Layden is expected to be released from a local hospital sometime this week following treatment for an undisclosed condition. Layden, 77, admitted himself for treatment Friday. Jazz spokesman Jonathan Rinehart said Layden was doing well and in good spirits Monday. He retired as the Jazz's president in 1999 after 20 years with the organization, having spent parts of seven seasons as head coach before stepping down in December 1988. After retiring from the Jazz , Layden worked as a consultant to the New York Knicks when his son Scott was the team's general manager.
